Frances Bearden, 92, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital surrounded by all her family and friends. She was born Nov. 26, 1919, near Rocky, to Lonie and Donald Wood. Her parents later moved to Roosevelt where she spent most of her school days, and while in high school she met her high school sweetheart, Leonard.

Frances married Leonard Bearden Aug. 9, 1937, in Frederick. To this union three children were born, Arthur Wayne, Dequetta Gwendolyn, and Gary Dale Bearden.

Leonard and Frances were baptized at Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in February 1952. Leonard passed away April 1988.

Frances retired from Civil Service at Altus Air Force Base in 1980 after 27 years, due to health reasons.

Frances always said "to be a Christian is my greatest desire." She and her mother, Lonie, started going to Thomas Street Church of Christ before her mother's death in August 1988.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Lonie and Donald Wood; husband, Leonard Bearden; infant son, Arthur Wayne; son-in-law, Perry Hasty; and brother-in-law, Jack Tinney.

Frances is survived by her sisters, Ora Mae Wallace of Tuttle, Marie Tinney of Altus, Margaret Davis and husband Jesse of Adkins, Texas; daughter, Dequetta Hasty of Altus; and son, Gary Bearden and wife Loretta of Altus.

Grandchildren include Mike Hasty of Altus, Mickey Hasty and wife Teri Lynn of Altus, Gary Bearden Jr. of Altus, Patricia Cain and husband Travis of Headrick; great grandchildren include Meagan Raines of Norman, Cody Hasty and wife Shelby of Hess, Blake Hasty and wife Sierra of Altus, Brookelyn Hasty of Altus, Brittany, Alex, Haley, Samuel, Hannah and Madison Bearden of Altus, Christopher, Ashley and Emily Cain of Headrick; and great-great-grandchildren include Dallon Hasty of Hess, Kayden Raines of Norman, and baby Hasty that is due in July to Blake and Sierra Hasty. She also has many nieces and nephews.

Her special friends include Jeanie Huber, Lou Dickenson, Ernie Thompson, Sue Sirmons, Virginia Carlucci, Rickie Unberger, EJ Lewis, Lisa who brought her meals, Fayrene Stickney, and Doris Fueglein.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday in the Lowell-Tims Chapel at 2 p.m., officiated by Clint Burns. Burial will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
