Kenneth J. Klieman, age 78, of St. Clair, passed away February 13, 2009. He was born December 13, 1930 to the late Edward and Margaret Klieman in Marine City, MI.

Ken was a Marine Corps veteran, serving two tours during the Korean Conflict.

Ken married Christine Maline on August 7, 1953 in Marine City, MI. Ken and Christine celebrated 55 years of marriage in August of 2008.

Ken was a retired electrician and was a 52-year member of the IBEW Local 52.

Mr. Klieman was very active in the community and was a member of the St. Clair Post of the American Legion, The Forty/Eight, the VFW, St. Clair Harbor Commission, and St. Clair Building Commission.

He was also a long-time St. Clair volunteer firefighter, and a 16-year city councilman for the City of St. Clair.

Following his retirement from city council, he was known as the "watchdog" of the St. Clair City Council.

Ken was also the former co-owner and operator of Burkart's Bar in St. Clair for 10 years.

Ken had many close friends at Bill MacDonald Ford in St. Clair and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Christine, and sons Ken (Cynthia), Randy, Kris, and Keith (Denise) Klieman.

Grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Brother of Margaret Cedar, Katherine Muehleisen and brother-in-law of Marie Klieman.

He is also survived by his close nephew, Bill Klieman and many other nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Klieman.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home, St. Clair. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Fr. Edward Ritter officiating.

Internment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair.

Additional visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department.
