Married first, 8 Sept 1818 to Esther Ward, daughter of Dr. Levi Ward of Rochester, NY. Three known children. Married second, 31 Oct 1826 to Mrs. Lucy Terry (Barton) Kibbe. Three known children.

Settled in Rochester in 1816. Notable lawyer, the father of the Bar of Monroe County and its oldest member when he died. Chapin Book, refers to him as Judge Moses Chapin.
