Services for Edna Irene Webb, 97, Shawnee, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. Mrs. Webb died April 30, 2012, at Shawnee Mission Hospital in Merriam, Kan. She was born Jan. 21, 1915, in Timken, Kan., the daughter of Emil and Lydia Schraeder. She attended cosmetology school in Dodge City, Kan., before meeting John J. Webb Jr. whom she married on July 14, 1940, in Hays, Kan. Mr. Webb died on Aug. 6, 1989. Mrs. Webb worked as a sales clerk at Weaver's Department Store in Lawrence, Kan., for 21 years, retiring in 1984. She was a former Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was also active in Sweet Adelines and the Green Thumb Garden Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, John J. Webb III and his wife Kay Webb, of Lenexa, Kan., and her daughter, Iris A. Neelley and her husband Kevin Neelley, also of Lenexa, and two grandchildren, Susan and John Charles Webb.
