Andrew was born in 1889 in Russian Poland, one of many children. He was raised on a farm in rural Poland, coming to the United States in May of 1913, departing in Antwerp, Belgium. During the time leading up to the war in Europe, he was going to arrested by the BASCH, a German secret police patrolling in Poland; However, when they Germans showed out at the Tomaszewski residence, a sister of Andrew ran out of the house to the fields where they were working and warned him; He escaped off into the Swiss countryside, never acutally seeing his family in Poland ever again.

Once in the United States, he went to work in the Oil fields of Texas, later moving to Chicago, where he worked as a laborer.

He married Catherine Swider, also a Polish immigrant, in 1920 in Chicago, Illinois; Together they raised 7 children. He and Catherine originally had 8 children. Kazmierz, their second child, passed away when he was 10 months old.

Andrew and Catherine ran a Candy Store, selling Illegal Moonshine out of the back of it; When the liquor was done and the lids began blowing off, they would throw mattresses and blankets over the cauldron to stop the noise.

He passed away in 1951 from plaque build-up in the arteries of his legs. The doctors gave him two choices. Have his legs amputated or die.

He was survived by his sons Matthew(Ann), Alfred, and Andrew; daughters Lillian(Chester) Skora, Helen(Robert) Lamm, Theresa Tomaszewski, and Stella Tomaszewski; his mother-in-law Margaret; his brother Joseph(Margaret) Tomaszewski; sisters-in-law Stella(Ray) Losacco, Leona(Adam) Grzybowski, and Miss Irene Swiderski; brothers-in-law William(Helen) Swiderski and Vince(Milly) Swiderski; many nieces and nephews.
