Jessie Marie Dean, a resident of Dothan, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Ozark Health Care Center in Ozark, Alabama. She was 96.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Rev. Lloyd Blank officiating. Private burial will follow in Campground Baptist Church Cemetery in Ozark with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dean was born January 3, 1913 in Irvington, New Jersey to Michael and Martha Newman Stecher. She met and married Howard M. Dean in 1930. Mrs. Dean did office work before becoming a homemaker and raising two daughters. She volunteered with the PTA and opened the first lunchroom in the local school. Mrs. Dean later became a hairdresser, owning and operating her own shop. During her retirement years, she traveled the United States and moved to Toms River, New Jersey. Mrs. Dean re-located to Ozark and attended Campground Baptist Church.

Her husband, Howard M. Dean, precedes Mrs. Dean in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Cook and Carol Perry; grand children, Judith Perry, Diane Mandel, Peter Cook; great grandchild, Ethan Hart; sister, Gertrude Campbell.
