Ernest Emery Vaughan, 70, the son of the late Samuel B. Vaughan and Ida Jane Mathews, was born May 14, 1903, at Big Piney, Mo. and died near Evening Shade on Oct. 11, 1973.
He was united in marriage to Etta Mae Kinnaird on May 12, 1923 and to this union seven children were born.
Survivors are his wife, Etta; four daughters, Ermel Drummond of Roby, Beatrice Hays of Labadie, Mo., Irene Felton of Springfield and Florence Bates from St. Louis; three sons, Everett, Leroy and Wayne, all of Plato; 30 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; four sisters; Bessie Scott of Nebo, Mo.; Sylvia Adkison of Cabool; Lucy Adkison of Houston, and Gladys Smith of Modesto, Calif., two brothers, Claude of Richland, Mo. and Lawrence of Battlefield, Mo.
He was a member of the Roby Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 15 at the Palace Church with the Rev. Larry Chapman officiating. Burial was in the Palace Cemetery under the direction of the Evans-Elliott Funeral Home.
