Charles A. Davenport was born February 2, 1906 at St. Elizabeth, Mo. He passed away at his home, 25 Elm St., Vermillion, S. Dak., May 1, 1949. He was at this date, 43 years, 2 months and 29 days. He was united in marriage to Aulta Snelling of Tuscumbia, Mo. on January 8, 1928. To this union three children were born. They were Bonnie Cathline, Nona Louise, Naomi Linnus.

There leaves to mourn his passing, the widow and children, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davenport, one brother, Nelson, of Hancock, Mo., and four sisters, Ethyl Crane of Ulman, Mo., Alice Jeffries of Eldon, Mo., Blanch Keeth of Eldon, Mo., Valma Barnhart of Eldon, Mo., and a host of relatives and friends.

Those preceding him in death are: one sister, Emma Jeffries, and one Nephew, Bobby Ray Keith.

Rev. Davenport entered the full-time ministry in 1931. He was active in his work until September 1948 where he was pastor of the Assembly of God Church here in Vermillion, S. Dak. There were many happy results of his faithfulness to his calling which he loved. He felt that he can say with Paul—"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith". II Timothy 4:7. He is now enjoying the bliss of which he has told others many times.

Funeral services were held in Vermillion, S. Dakota Wednesday, May 4 and at the Eldon Assembly of God Church Friday, May 6. Seventeen visiting ministers assisted with the service. Rev. John Snyder from Iowa gave the message. Interment was in Eldon Cemetery with Kays Funeral Service.
