Allen F Powell, 69 years old, a prominent farmer of this place died at 1 o'clock Saturday morning at his home after a lingering illness of several months. Funeral services were held from the home Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock conducted by Rev. G. M. Hughes of the Baptist Church. Burial was in the Newberry Cemetery northwest of Alma. Mr. Powell is survived by his wife, three sons, George Powell of Alma, J. P. Powell of Calumet, Oklahoma, and Walter Powell of Fort Smith; four daughters, Mrs. Belle Teague of Alma, Mrs. Calvin Blevins, Mrs. Dell Whitman of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Walter Brown, Fort Smith; three brothers, R. P. Powell and W. B. Powell of Alma and Alfred Powell of Chickasha, Oklahoma, one sister, Mrs. Kate Smith of Beggs, Oklahoma.
