Mr. Martin Earl Adams, who was born on 19 February 1946, passed away on 5 June 2021 at the William F. Green Center in Bay Minette. Martin was a native of Whistler, Alabama, and a longtime resident of Mobile. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Bridges Adams, and his parents, Hilda and Jasper Adams. He is survived by his sons Brian Hutchinson Adams and Frederick Reeves Adams, his grandson, Martin Connor Adams (Ardis), his great-grandson, Elliott Adams, his sister, Valley Elsie Adams O'Neal, and his brother, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Francis Hutchinson Adams (Marian), nieces, Alex Lapree (Chris), Amy Adams and Claire Adams, and a longtime friend and companion, Nancy Hutchinson. Martin was a proud product of the Mobile Catholic Schools, having attended St. Mary's Elementary School and McGill Institute. He would never hesitate to tell anyone how along with his friends and family, his character was equally formed by the Sisters of Mercy and the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Martin continued his education, graduating from the University of South Alabama. The day after he graduated from South, he left Mobile for Parris Island, South Carolina, where he learned more in a short period of time, under great duress, than at any other time in his life. Martin has forever been proud of his honorable service in the Marine Corps. After completing his time on the Commanding General's staff at Parris Island he returned to Mobile where he spent his life. He worked as a director for the YMCA in Mobile until making a career change that took him into the tool, dye, and machining industry where he worked in sales and purchasing until retirement. Martin was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed time in the woods with his dear friend Harry Smith, and time on the water bass fishing throughout the delta with his brother. Martin was a dedicated conservationist who rigorously supported game and conservation laws and never missed an opportunity to speak well of Alabama's conservation officers. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Whistler, Alabama on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11:00 A.M., with burial in the family plot at Whistler Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Arrangements are by Ascension Funeral Home, 1016 Hillcrest Road, Mobile, Alabama 36695.
