George Danforth Armer was born at Livingstone, Arizona, October 18, 1881. Roosevelt lake now covers the site on which Livingstone was located. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Armer, who settled in the Tonto basin half a century ago, where the senior Armer engaged in the cattle business. George Danforth Armer spent all of his life in Gila county. He was a cattleman and was known far and near and had a legion of friends who will be saddened on learning of his death.
During the past six months Mr. Armer had been afflicted with an affection of the heart. He was not confined to his bed until three days before his death yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Lucinda Armer, aged mother, was at his bedside when death claimed him.
Mr. Armer is survived by Mrs Lucinda Armer, mother; a wife, Mrs. Gertrude Armer; two sons, Charles Armer and George D. Armer, Jr., and four brothers, Tom Armer of California, Fred H. Armer of Roosevelt, Arizona, J.B. "Bud" Armer of Phoenix, and John H. Armer of Globe. Tom Armer was at one time sheriff of Gila county. Preston L. Armer, a brother, died at Phoenix, December 12, 1915. His body was brought to Globe and buried in the Elks cemetery.
The widow, Mrs. Gertrude Armer, is a granddaughter of the late Colonel Ellison of Pleasant Valley, and a niece of Mrs. George W.P. Hunt, wife of Governor Hunt.
