RANDOLPH - Candace W. "Candy" Lane, 43, died March 9, 2003, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

She was born Jan. 23, 1960, in Newport, the daughter of Carl and Dorcas (Gage) Wright.

She attended schools in Brookfield, Vt. and graduated from Holbrook (Mass.) High School in 1978. She earned a nursing degree at Norwich University in Northfield in 1992.

She married Alan Lane on July 20, 1991 in Rochester.

Mrs. Lane worked as an EMT for the Valley Rescue Squad for several years and for Meaghers Electronics, both in Rochester, and later as a registered nurse at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, N.H., and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., in the oncology department.

She was a member of the Randolph Baptist Fellowship, Tres Dias, White River Valley Players, the Brookfield Community Singers and the Randolph Community Drug Task Force. She had also served as a mentor to students at Randolph Union High School.

She loved art, especially working with mosaics, clay and paints.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Christopher M. Collins and Corey D. Collins; a daughter Cara G. Collins, all of Randolph; her parents of Brookfield; three stepsons, Steven E. Lane and Chris A. Lane, both of Texas, and Alex D. Lane of Randolph; a brother Michael R. Wright of Randolph; a sister Catherine Wright of Berlin and other relatives.

A brother Glenn Wright is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Randolph Baptist Fellowship. The Rev. Jerry Smith will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brookfield Community Sings, in care of Jeffrey Kimmel, West Street, Brookfield, VT 05036, the White River Valley Ambulance, RR #1, Box 579, Bethel, VT 05032 or to the Valley Rescue Squad, Rochester, VT 05747.
