Ronald Benedict was born September 15, 1912, in Atchison County, near Watson, Missouri and died May 18, 1994 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the eighth son born to Ellis and Effie (Hayes) Benedict.
On September 22, 1934, Ronald was united in marriage with Pauline Barrett at Bedford, Iowa and to this union seven children were born. They lived most of the married life in the Shenandoah area where Ronald was employed by Iowa Power and Light as a lineman for 24 years prior to his retirement.
He was a long time member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Preceding him in death were his parents, seven brothers, Howard, Ted, Everett, Carl, Keith, Russell, and Levi; one sister, Ellie Mae Benedict, and two grandchildren, Michael Bloom and Erin (Benedict) Arnold.
He is survived by his wife Pauline of Shenandoah, seven children, Joyce and husband Jack MCCormack of Casa Grande, AZ, Carolyn and husband Max Bloom of St. Charles, IA, Ronald Leon Benedict and wife Marleen of Jakarta, Indonesia, Derry Benedict and wife Kathy of Azusa, CA, Sarah Jo and husband John Sanders of Council Bluffs, IA, Ellis Benedict and wife Juanitta of Shenandoah, Gregory Benedict and wife Susan of Savannah, MO; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Clifford Benedict of Kansas City, KS, Earl Benedict and wife Minerva of Clarence, MO; one sister, Gladys and husband John Fithen of Shenandoah; and many other relatives and friends.
