My Great-Grandfather

Son of Ira Clark and Elizabeth (Cullison) Clark. Married Mary Evans 26 Feb 1888 in Mitchell Co, Kansas. Father of Walter Clark.

From the files of Clyde C Clark

Eldest son of Ira and Elizabeth (Cullison) Clark, was born in Eel River Township, Greene County, Indian 10 Jul 1858. Went to Woodford County, Illinois in late 1860s or early 1870s, with Eureka as Post Office.

In 1860 census, he was 2 years of age. Ira at 27 years and Elizabeth at 20 years. Living in Jefferson Township, Owen County, Arney as Post Office.

It's highly possible he went to Kansas the same time his parents did. Was in Mitchell County, Kansas in 1880 census as a hired hand for a farmer.

William married Mary Evans, 26 Feb 1888 in Logan Township, Mitchell County, Kansas "at the home of her parents" Hugh P and Adelaide (Mead) Evans. The minister was Ed Peter Shurts, a father-in-law to Mary (Kilpatrick) Shurts. She is a sister of Rachel (Kilpatrick) Worley.

In 1905, the family of William moved to Dewey County, Oklahoma. May have been Enid, Oklahoma earlier, as Dad spoke of Enid. They both died in Dewey County, Mary 11 Mar 1922 and also in 1922. Mary was born in Willow Springs Township, Douglas County, Kansas, Willow Springs as the Post Office. Mary's family were found in Douglas County in 1870 census. Her birth date, 20 Mar 1869.
