Gottlieb and Mary Willis were married 1 July 1886, when Mary was 17. Her guardian was Conrad Bohl, who married Gottlieb's sister, Christina Remmele McFarland, in the same church on 4 July 1886, according to Washington County marriage records. After Christine's first husband died (supposedly in Steubenville in 1870), Christina returned to Washington County (at least by the 1880 census) and was living with Gottlieb. Christina and Conrad are buried in Watertown cemetery, not far away. Gottlieb and Christina's parents share this cemetery.
