Aline Marie Toups Bruce, 89, a native and resident of Cut Off, died at 7:24 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Loretta Bruce Doucet; two grandchildren, Bruce J. Collins and Crystal Ann Collins; four great-grandchildren, Christopher "Scooby" Collins, Whitney Collins, Casey Dartez and Kevin Pellegrin Jr.; three step-grandchildren, Harris "Kip" Doucet, Mae Ella Doucet Falgout and Mary "Liz" Doucet Adams; nine step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nine step-great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Victoria Toups Breaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alidore Bruce; her parents, Newman J. and Athenese Bourg Toups; three brothers, George, Ewood and Newman "U.B." Toups Jr.; and one sister, Agnes "Lou Lou" Toups Sonnier.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society, Grand Isle Senior Citizens, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Krewe of Nereid. Prior to her retirement, she was owner of Bruce Furniture in Cut Off and Bruce Apartments in Grand Isle. Here she enjoyed meeting people and became a friend to everyone she met through her businesses. She also loved visiting with family and friends and had a passion for Mardi Gras and loved the good time shared with the krewe members, family and friends.
