Howard B. Stringham

Howard Barlow Stringham, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died June 27, 1997 of heart failure.

He was born April 13, 1914 in Bountiful, Utah, to Richard Stringham and Elizabeth Ann Barlow, the thirteenth of fifteen children. He married Nora Holbrook, August 17, 1939 in Layton, Utah. He was a pioneer in electronics, building the first televisions in the state of Utah. He worked for Bountiful City, serving as water superintendent for several years. He was an engineer for Sperry-Rand specializing in radar systems. He retired from Mountain Fuel in 1979.

He served many years as secretary to the High Priest Quorum and in other callings in the LDS Church. After his retirement, Howard became more active than at any time in his life, serving the senior citizens of Davis County in various capacities. He served on the Davis County Council on Aging. He served on the State Advisory Council on Aging for several years and chaired the Governor's Conference on Aging for three years. He was president of the South Davis Chapter of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers and served as a national area vice president of the SUP. He was an advisor at the Bountiful Golden Years Center, helping seniors with health insurance. In 1987 he received the Carnation Silver Bowl Award from Governor Bangerter for his volunteer work in the state.

Howard is survived by his wife, Nora; two brothers, Dell B. Stringham, of Ogden; Harmon B. Stringham, of Bountiful; a sister, Mary S. Law, of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Gregory Howard Stringham and Joseph Gerrard Stringham, both of Bountiful; two grandchildren, Suzette S. Wilson and Joseph Phillip Stringham; one great-grandchild, Joseph Dominick Stringham.
How we shall miss him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 1997 in the Bountiful Stone Creek Stake Center at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held Monday evening 7-9 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Tuesday 11-11:45 prior to services at the church. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
