Born in Amarillo, TX, she was married off at a young age. After all five living children were born, her first husband left, leaving all of the children with Frances. She worked what she could to support the family, including hanging wallpaper for the WPA.

Around 1942, she remarried to Sam Rudisill, who moved the family to Mena, Arkansas. It was here that she met her third husband, my grandpa, Edward Lee Solomon. They moved up to Oregon for some time, before settling in Southern California. Here Ed and Frances raised one daughter, Lyn. They would stay in Bloomington, CA, where Ed had an auto garage.

He and Frances loved children. They became foster parents and fostered a total of 23 children. Frances was artistic, a quality she passed down to her children and grandchildren. She taught an Art Class near home and painted and quilted in her spare time, up until her death. She also enjoyed building small houses out of objects such as cardboard, then detailing the structures with paint. She was also skilled at making clothing, making her daughter Lyn's prom dress, as well as wedding dress and ring bearer pillow.

Ed died in 1984 from complications due to rheumatoid arthritis. Frances lived another 16 years, never stopping her quilting and painting.
