Andrew Wesley Turner, 84, born 24 Aug 1912, of Route 1 Nahunta, died Sunday night, 18 May 1997, at the Satilla Care Center in Waycross, following a long illness.

A native of Pierce County, he was a son of the late George Monroe Turner and Mary Jane "Janie" Teston Turner. He was retired as a linesman for the Okefenoke Rural Electric Membership Corporation and was a member of Hickox Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ethel I. Tuten Turner of Nahunta; two daughters, Betty White and Irma O'Quinn, both of Nahunta; four grandchildren, Mark and Michael White, and Sherri Hall and Jaclyn Beadle; two great-grand children; a sister, Pearlie Lewis of Brunswick; a brother, Millard Turner of St. Petersburg, FL; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Hickox Baptist Church with the Rev. D. W. Derrell Rentz and the Rev. Bill Johns officiating. Interment followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Hickox.

Music was by Tommy Whaley, and Bill and Brenda Johns. Songs, ""Amazing Grace," "Precious Memories," and "I'll Fly Away."

Casketbearers were Mark White, Michael White, Jeff Beadle, Lamar Hall, Jarrett Johns and David Page.

Chambless Funeral Home of Nahunta was in charge of arrangements.
