Frederick Fauver was the third son of Henry and Elizabeth Maria Fauver of Salem County, New Jersey. In October 1779, at just seventeen years of age, Frederick followed in his older brother George's footsteps and enlisted in the Cumberland County (NJ) militia. With the military rank of Private, he was assigned to Colonel Elijah Hugg's Regiment serving under Brigade Major Robert Patterson. Subsequently, in June of 1780, Frederick served as a Private in Captain John Wood's company, as part of the New Jersey State Troops. The following statement is taken from Frederick's affidavit for pension given in Cumberland County, New Jersey, 1832: "He marched to Monmouth in New Jersey (and) was stationed there sometime. Then marched to Middletown, then to a place called Colts Neck in New Jersey and other places in New Jersey, the names of which he cannot now remember. He was on the march greater part of the time (and) was in several skirmishes, and in many perils, but was in no general engagements". Frederick was discharged at Monmouth Court House, New Jersey, on 1 January 1781 and returned to civilian life to eventually marry Phoebe Edwards on 4 May 1784 in Pittsgrove, Salem, New Jersey. Together, they had the following children: Harriet, Mary Elizabeth (1790-1856), James (1793-1860) and Ann (1803-1883). In 1850, at the age of 88 years, Frederick was living with his son James in Bridgeton, Cumberland, New Jersey. Frederick died two years later and is buried in the South Yard of the First Methodist Church Cemetery, Bridgeton, New Jersey. Buried alongside Frederick are his loving wife Phoebe and a young granddaughter. Both Frederick, and his brother George Fauver (1752-1836), are recognized by the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution as Revolutionary War Patriots and their names are also contained in Stryker's Report.
