Earla Gay Butler Sumsion was born December 16, 1936 and died of heart failure on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. She was the eldest daughter of Rowan M and Meletta Alvey Butler.
She married Frank Sumsion on September 17, 1960 and they were sealed in the LDS Manti Temple on August 24, 1962. Frank and Gay are the parents of four daughters and a son. During their married life, they lived in California, Utah, and Arizona. Gay was a hard worker and touched the lives of hundreds of people through her service in the community and through the LDS Church.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; her children Sherry (Mark) Chadwick, Debra (Paul) White, Laura (Jacob) Rawlins, Michael, and Diana (Kyle) Dana; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and siblings Darwin (DeeAnn) Butler, Cheryl (Val) Russell, Gary (Laura) Butler and Michelle (Peter) Kline.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2009 in Chandler, Arizona.
Friends may call in Provo, Utah on Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, followed at 11:30 a.m. by a Graveside Service and Interment at Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
