Verna Mae Hadley was eighth in line born to Jonathan William Hadley 1865–1907 and Flora E Andrew 1869-1939 on Thursday, July 10, 1902. She was born on a farm in Newlin, Alamance Co., North Carolina, USA.

She lived with her parents at Newlin, Alamance Co., N.C. until her father died on 20 Oct. 1907 at the age of 42, leaving her mother to care for 10 siblings.

Jennings Ingram Chandler was the lucky man to win her hand on December 14, 1923 in Alamance County, NC...they were both 21 years of age, and headed for a new life on Route 5, Burlington, Pleasant Grove, Alamance, North Carolina, USA.

As time passed they were blessed with 7 children with John Edward Chandler passing away when he was 1 year old. Jennings and Vernie made sure that their living children all attended College and each succeeded with honors and members of Sororities.

Verna had married a man who succeeded in life and owned N.C. Carolina Restaurant in Chapel Hill, Orange County, North Carolina.

She, like her mother, was left with siblings to raise when Jennings passed away at 55 years of age.

On November 1, 1973, in Orange County, North Carolina, God called Vernie to her eternal home. She was buried in Burlington, Alamance, NC at Long's Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery. Rest in peace Aunt Vernie.
