Andrews Hadley and they were blessed with seven children; Doris Mae, Florine Margaret, Jennings Ingram Jr., Nell Marie, Barbara Anne and Nancy Jane. A son, James Edwards went home to be with Jesus when he was 1 year and seven months old.
The highest grade Jennings had completed was his second year in High School, but he and Vernie made sure that every one of their children finished a four year college and they all finished with honors and were members of a Sorority.
In 1942, he registered for the World War II Draft at the age of 39. At that time he stated he owned N.C. Restaurant in Chapel Hill, Orange Co. NC.
Death came to Jennings Ingram Chandler Sr on Wednesday, May 7, 1958 at the age of 55. He was buried in Long's Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery, his home church in Burlington, NC.
