Springdale
James A. Zigarella, of Springdale, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at his home. He was born in Springdale to the late Acenzio and Catarina Zigarella and had been a lifelong resident. He formerly was a draftsman with Blawnox Union Steel and was a member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Zigarella was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the Army. He was a member of the Springdale VFW. Survivors include his daughter, Helen (Nick) Yurjevich, of Leechburg; son, James (Kristina) Zigarella, of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Antonio, Katarina, Roman, Gabriella and Athena Yurjevich, Anthony and Dominic Zigarella; a brother, Milton Zigarella, of Carlisle; and two sisters, Lena Stein, of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Edith, of Texas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Milko Zigarella; and a sister, Mary Catella. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in SPRINGDALE at the CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Alphonsus Church with burial to follow in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township. A veterans service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
