TERRE HAUTE - Alice Lucille (Howard) Atkinson, 84, formerly of Bicknell and Sullivan, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday (Feb. 14, 2000) at her residence.
Cremation is scheduled with private entombment in the Center Ridge Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Sullivan Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Paul McGlasson will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
She was born on Oct. 1, 1915, in Bicknell, to William and Lillian (Boyer) Howard. She married James David Atkinson and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1988.
Atkinson was a homemaker and former Atkinson Ice Company owner in Bicknell and Sullivan. She was a First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan member and had been an active Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority member since her initiation in 1937. She also served as State Province Officer of Province 3, from 1961 to 1963 and actively participated in the Beta Pi Alpha Omicron and Terre Haute Gamma Gamma Associate. Furthermore, she had memberships in various civic and philanthropic organizations throughout the years.
Surviving are: a daughter, Sara E. Atkinson, Terre Haute; a son, Howard Atkinson, Terre Haute; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Wabash Valley, Kappa Kappa Kappa Memorial Fund or First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan.
