SHIRLENE HILL died Nov. 11, 2000, in Seattle, Washington, 12 years after the onset of leukemia and far beyond the statistical expect-ations of her disease. We all marveled at her reserves of strength, character, and determination to live a full and meaningful life despite the uncertainty of her physical condition. In many ways, her illness led to a renewal of life rather than a decline.

Shirlene was born in Provo, Utah, Dec. 12, 1933 to Owen and Stella Hill, both deceased.

She is survived by two daughters, Michelle de la Torre and Angela DeMiero; one son, Tony DeMiero; two brothers, Jim and Douglas Hill; and her devoted friend Kent Heathershaw.

After graduating from Bremerton High School in Bremerton, Washington, she belated received a degree in education, while raising a family. She taught elementary school in Port Orchard, Washington, where she lived until her retirement two years ago.

Her life was abundantly enriched by art, literature, and flowers and deeply fulfilled by family and friends. She was a beautiful on the outside as she was on the inside. We feel that those of you who did not know Shirlene would have loved and admired her as much as we did.

Services will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 No. Main Street, Bountiful, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, 2000. Friends may visit at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Elsinore Town Cemetery at approximately 3 that afternoon.
