Jimmy King Hill (89) of Kaysville, Utah was cheered home at 6:31 pm on Saturday October 6, 2018, surrounded by his family, three months prior to his 90th birthday, after complications from liver failure incident to Alzheimer’s disease.
Jim was born February 1, 1929 in the small Danish town of Elsinore, Utah to Owen Hill and Stella King. He graduated from South Sevier High, where he excelled in track and field which earned him a full-ride scholarship to BYU, where he held state records in the pole vault. He was drafted into the US Army, earned the Outstanding Trainee Award, and became a sharpshooter. He fought in the Korean War with the 27th Regiment Infantry Division Wolfhounds, who were known as the most ferocious division to the enemy. He was a decorated soldier and returned home after the war upon his honorable discharge. Jim graduated from BYU where he met and later married Naida Ann Black, in 1955 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They moved to California where he began his career in banking and where his four children were born. He later sent for two Korean brothers whom he adopted and educated in California and Utah.
Jim’s charismatic personality enhanced his professional status, and he found himself recruited back to Utah, receiving his Masters degree at Rutgers University, and enjoyed the remainder of his banking career until 1993.
He was an avid outdoorsman and an athlete, but among his greatest achievements was his love of church service, specifically working with the Priests.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and younger sister Shirlene, and survived by Naida, his devoted wife of 63 years and their four kids Mitch (Debbie), Steph Hagen (Butch), Pat (Diane), Tom (Jill), and his younger brother Doug (Bernadete), along with 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Thursday October 11th at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street in Farmington, Utah 84025 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday October 12th at the Kaysville chapel on 500 South Main Street from 11 am to 12 pm. A viewing will be held prior to that service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 East Crestwood Road.
