Enoch was most likely born in Claiborne Co, TN, but there has been some suggestion it might have been Knox Co.KY. It hasn't been documented. His parents were Robert C & Mary "Polly" Sumpter Chapman. Mary "Polly" Sumpter was the mother of Enoch's brother James and three sisters. Margarett Cummins Chapman became his stepmother after Mary "Polly" died about June of 1816 shortly after Enoch was born.
Enoch married Julia Ann Berry 27 Dec 1838, in Edgar Co, IL. She was a sister to his brother, James second wife. She had 12 children.
