Mrs. Brandt was the daughter of Henry and Caroline W. (Gieck) Gerken. Her brother's death certifcate, Henry Gerken (1869-1954), reported that he was born in Koenig, Osage County, MO. Margaretha was probably born in Koenig, too. She married William Brandt on 14 Oct 1905. Her untimely death eight years later, according to her MO death certificate with informant William Brandt, was caused by Bright's Disease. Her father was reported to be William Morre; her father was Herman Henry Gerken. The family of her half-sister, Regina (Morre) Neese, always spoke fondly of this sister.

According to the GASCONADE COUNTY CEMETERY SURVEY, 1985, there are two Zoar cemeteries at Drake: Zoar Methodist Church Cemetery, No. 1 (Sec. 16, south of Drake); and Zoar Methodist Church Cemetery, No. 2 (Sec. 15, in Drake). Mrs. Brandt was buried in cemetery No. 1. When her mother, Caroline Morre, died in 1928, Mrs. Morre was buried at side of this daughter.
