"Funeral Held at Center Point for W.P.Cowden,80 'Resident of Kerr County For Past 28 Years Passes away. Funeral services were held Sunday afteroon at Center Point for Washington P. Cowden, 80, who passed away Saturday night at his home in that town. The services were held at the Center Point Methodist Church, with Rev. M. Williamson, the pastor, in charge. Burial was in the Center Point cemetery under direction of Peterson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were W. I. Rischworth, Sid McElroy, E. B. Meeker, Dan Posey, E. B. Hodges and Elvin Barfield. Mr. Cowden had been in failing health for the past year. He had been a resident of Kerr County for 28 years, having moved to this section from Wilbarger County in 1905. He first located in the Turtle Creek community and lived there until 1912, when he moved, with his family to Center Point. Deceased was born at Springfield, Ala., on January 31, 1853. He was an active member of the Methodist Church and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Jane Cowden; four, daughters, Mrs. E. H. Turner and Mrs. A. M. Lamb of Kerrville, Mrs. Robert Ridgway and Miss Alma Cowden of Center Point; and five son-., Earl Cowden, Stratford, Texas; Guy Cowden, San Antonio; Jasper Cowden, Pasadena, Calif.; Blake and Walter K. Cowden of Center Point."
