Mr. Parris was born May 23, 1942 in Marsh Center, the son of Verl and Marie Myers Parris. He entered the Navy in 1960, serving as an electronics technician. He was discharged in 1967 as a first class petty officer. He was married and divorced while in the Navy. He married Pat Nielson in 1972 in Blackfoot. He continued his education at ISU where he received a degree in electronics. He was employed at EG&G until ill health forced his retirement in October. He was divorced from Pat in the summer of 1981.
He was survived by one son, Bob Parris, one daughter, Rhonda Parris and his parents Verl and Marie Parris, all of Moreland; five brothers, Mick Parris, Pingree, Dan Parris and Roland Parris both of Pheonix, Ariz., Jake Parris, Blackfoot, and Delbert Parris Burley; two sisters, Mrs. Milton (Patricia) Grimmett, and Mrs. Don (LuAnn) Huffman both of Burley.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Blackfoot Northwest LDS Stake Center, conducted by Bishop Lloyd Merrill of the Moreland Fifth Ward. The family will receive friends at the Hill-Coltin Sandberg funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and at the stake center Thursday for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Moreland Cemetery. Military rites will be preformed by members of the american Legion Post No. 23, Ben Hansen commander.
