Jason was a prisoner of war at Cahaba Prison, also known as Castle Morgan, in Alabama. Being a prisoner of war in a southern prison and being a Union soldier and southern could not have been easy. The trials of the soldiers are well documented in the book "The Sultana Disaster" by Jerry O. Potter. Jason's name is listed in the survivors at the end of the book.
