George W Summers, son of Virginia Watson and John T Summers, was born 29 March 1829 in Jefferson Co IL. He married Nancy H Hobbs in Jefferson Co on 10 January 1849 and in 1850 they lived at Mount Vernon, Jefferson Co. She was born in TN in November 1825. George was a carpenter. In 1860 they were at Greenville, Hunt Co TX. He enlisted at a Private in the Confederate Army and served in Company A, 1st Sharpshooter Battalion of Texas. He was mustered out on 26 May 1865. In 1870 he and Nancy were in Lamar Co TX; and in 1880 they were back in Hunt Co. They were still at Greenville, Hunt Co in 1900. George died in Fannin Co on 8 March 1912. They had five children; none were alive in 1900.
