He lived near Martin's Mill. His wife was M.C. who was buried at Hillcrest Cemetery. He died 11 Dec 1920 and was buried at Holly Springs Cemetery near Martin's Mill. There are some indications that M.C. or M.S.I. (Mrs. John C. Abbe) applied for a widow's pension but it was rejected. She applied again for Widow's Pension #45270. There is also indications that both John C. and his wife lived in the Old Confederate's Home for a time.
