RAY FANT DIES OF GUN SHOT WOUNDS.
Wash Smith is Arrested on Murder Charge.

Funeral services for Ray Fant, 22-year old employee of the Lanett Bleachery & Dye Works, who died Tuesday morning at an Opelika Hospital of gun shot wounds suffered last Sunday night during an altercation near Opelika, were held Wednesday afternoon from Mountain Spring Baptist Church near Wadley, with the Reverends G. D. Hunt and E. E. Laney officiating. Burial was in the church yard cemetery with Robinson & Cutler of LaFayette in charge of arrangements.
Fant is said to have been shot during an argument at the home of Wash Smith, when he failed to heed the 50-year old farmer's warning not to enter his house. Smith was arrested and charged with murder, it is understood.
Surviving Fant are three sisters: Mrs. Wayne Allen and Mrs. Fred Harmon of Marcoot, Mrs. Jewell Sorrell of Opelika; two brothers: Tommy Fant and R. J. Fant both of LaGrange.
