Verna Welch, 77, of Charlestown, Indiana, formerly of Scott County, passed away January 23, 2009, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born April 4, 1931, she was preceded in death by her parents, William Alexander and Edna Smith Copeland; step-son, Ricky Welch; brothers: Hirley, Clyde, Arthur, Joe, and Luther Copelman; and one sister, Elecie Copelman.
She is survived by her husband, John Welch of Charlestown, Ind.; sons: Dewayne Turner of Goldthwaite, Tex., Noel Turner of Kingston, Gary Turner of Sparta, and Ray Turner, and Ricky Turner, both of Crossville; daughters: Lisa Regan and Vickie Holmes, both of Fort Mount, Ga.; step-son, Ricky Welch of Indianapolis, Ind.; step-daughters: Durehta Sue Ramsey, Patricia Davis, and Alecia Dotts, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, two sisters: Ruby Sharp of Knoxville, and Goldie Hawn of Crossville; special sister-in-law, Patsy Welch of Indianapolis, Ind.; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral service was to have been conducted a 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home. Interment was to have followed at Love Chapel Cemetery.
West-Murley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
