Daughter of Charles Sheldon (1875-1938) & Flora Shellhorn (1874-1928). She married John Clayton Devore (1907-1991) in Greenup, KY on 16 Jun 1934. Her obituary indicates "Esther is survived by two sons, Delmar (Mary Ann) Devore of Mount Vernon and Donald (Deanna) Devore of Decatur, Ill.; five grandchildren, Debra Devore and David (Lisa) Devore of Mount Vernon, Dolores (Rick) Rawlings of Argenta, Ill., Darlene (Kenneth) Childers of Newark, and Dianna (Robert) Miller of Goldsboro, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Carie Rawlings, Ryan Devore, Micayla Devore and Clayton Childers.
Esther loved the old hymns of the church, and for much of her life attended the Assembly of God Church in Danville. In recent years she attended Covenant Christian Church of God in Mount Vernon, and Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Decatur, Ill. Esther was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all of her family."
