Edmond Benard Hollebeke was born September 22, 1879 in Blankenberg, Belgium to Pierre Jacob Van Hollebeke and Emerencia DeHouck. When he was but 5 years old, the family pulled up stakes and left from Antwerp, Belgium on the ship Waesland and landed in New York on November 28, 1884. It seems all the children dropped the "Van" off the Hollebeke surname, as all the family is found under the name Hollebeke. They must not have stayed in the east too long, as 1901 finds them in Midland, Texas. It seems that ranching was in their blood. Edd never married, but his large family of nine brothers and one sister supplied the family with plenty of grandchildren. On Edd's draft card signed September 12, 1918, it states that he was tall, slender, with blue eyes and light hair. Edd joined the Texas Rangers in Company L of Ysleta, Texas, with the Ranger camp in Fabens, Texas. He worked under Captain Bill Davis. It was said that anytime the Rangers were called out on duty, that Edd was ready to go. He was a good horseman,a good shot and a fearless man. He remained in the Ranger Force until Company L was disbanned, when he was honorably discharged. He lived to be 81 years old. He lived with one of his brothers in Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico and died there on May 13, 1961. He is buried in the family plot in the Fairview Cemetery in Pecos, Reeves County, Texas.
