Irene was born August 28, 1921 in Mapleton, Utah.


She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many callings.


She graduated from Springville High, Springville, Utah, and earned a Secretarial Administrative degree from Pasadena Junior College, Pasadena, California. She then worked as a secretary at Lockheed Aircraft Engineers.


She married Edward H. Devoe, Naval Officer, on November 18, 1943. In 1945, her husband retired from the U.S. Navy and received his law degree at the University of Colorado.


He was called to active duty in the U.S. Navy in Cadillac, Michigan, released in 1954, and appointed Probate Judge. The family remained in Cadillac until 1964, when they were divorced. Irene and children moved to East Lansing where she worked as a secretary for Michigan State University.


In 1973, she moved to Salt Lake City and worked as a secretary and Home Health Aid, and retired at age 75. She lived at Atria Retirement Center in Sandy for three years and then at The Inn on Barton Creek in Bountiful, Utah.


She is survived by four children: Cathy, Meg, Ann and Charles.


Funeral Services will be held at the White Church in Mapleton on the corner of Main and Maple Streets on Wednesday, January 28 at 11:30 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services.
Interment at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
