A message from Michigan City Thursday morning announced the death of Chas. Ackerman sr., father of Chas. Ackerman of this place. The deceased was a former resident of Porter, and when he lived here he platted the land now known as Ackerman's Corners.

Loving husband and father, Charles Ackerman was born in Bavaria and immigrated to the United States.
Charles and Magdalena were the parents of nine children. Sons, Charles, John, Albert, William, and daughters, Louisa, Magdalene, Josehna, Amelia and Wilhelmina (John Christopher Schwark).
