Alice Solomon Dalsheimer was one of seven daughters and one son born to Solomon P. Solomon and Emma Solomon in New Orleans, Louisiana. S.P. and Emma were both born in South Carolina; they may have traveled to Louisiana with his brother, L. J. Solomon, and their parents, Chapman and Sarah Solomon.

Alice appeared, at age 8, in the 1850 US Census, along with her parents and sisters Clara, age 6, and Fanny, age 3. In 1858, Alice Solomon worked as 5th Assistant at Webster School in New Orleans. She worked as a teacher in 1861-62. Clara Solomon, in her Civil War Diary, describes a visit to Webster School, where her sister Alice was a teacher, on the last day of school, on Friday, June 28th, 1861.

Alice was a poet and a published writer. She wrote under the pseudonym of "Salvia Dale". Some of her poems were published in New Orleans newspapers.

In 1866, Alice Solomon married Alexander Dalsheimer, a lawyer. They had one daughter, Sarah, born about 1868. Alexander Dalsheimer, died October 22,1878 and Alice Solomon Dalsheimer died in January 15, 1880. Alice was preceded in death by her father (d. 1874), and by brother Chapman Solomon,(d. 1850) and sister Eveline Solomon (d. 1853.
