Two Emlenton RD women were killed and two others injured yesterday afternoon when their car was struck broadside and dragged 60 feet by a tractor-trailer on Route 8, just north of Barkeyville. Pronounced dead at 3:15 pm at Grove City Hospital were Ruth A. Morrison, 68, and her daughter-in-law, Esther J. Morrison, 47, both of Emlenton RD 3. Police said Esther Morrison was operating a 1970 station wagon east on a legislative route, when she apparently failed to stop at a stop sign at the Route 8 intersection one tenth mile north of Barkeyville. The Morrison vehicle traveled into the path of a 1977 International truck-tractor operated by Robert H. Biasetla, 40, of Poland, Ohio. The truck collided with the passenger car and dragged it 60 feet down the highway, then traveled another 180 feet and struck a telephone pole. The accident occurred at 2:50 pm. The Morrison car was demolished. Damage to the truck is estimated at $4000. Damage to the utility pole is set at $200. The Morrison women were pronounced dead by Mercer County Deputy Coroner Dr. Wonsettler. The younger woman died of compound skull fractures; her mother-in-law died of shock and skull fractures. Two passengers in the station wagon, Juanita Clark, 21, of Volant RD and her two-year-ld son, Michael, were also taken to Grove City Hospital by Gove City ambulance. Clark was admitted in satisfactory condition and her son was treated and released at the hospital emergency room.
