In 1909 he was married to Magdelena Herr, who preceded him in death June 13, 1962. Surviving are 4 sons (Clayton, Lloyd, Milford, and Herbert), one daughter (Marie-Mrs. William Knarr*), 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one sister (Mrs. Marianne Holtzworth). He was a member of the Erb Street Mennonite Church, where funeral services were conducted, with J. B. Martin and Milton Schwartzentruber officiating.
