Fredrick was the son of Johan Jakob (aka Jacob J.) Barlin and his wife, Marie Sophie Jung.

On June 5, 1917, Fredrick registered for the draft for WWI. He was working as a brakeman for Southern Pacific Railroad in Oakland, California. His draft card described Fredrick as being tall and stout, with blue eyes and light colored hair.

At this time, the only other information about Fredrick his his birthdate of October 23, 1894 in California, most likely Oakland, Alameda County.

Update: due to the addition of his marker, we now know that he died in 1917 and that he was called Fritz.
