Olive LinstromNEWCASTLE, Wyo. – Funeral services for Olive M. Linstron, 79, of Newcastle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Rapid City with the Rev. David Anderson and the Rev. John Caton officiating.Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of the McColley Funeral Home. Linstrom died Sunday at the Weston Manor Nursing Home in Newcastle following a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 24, 1904, at Valentine, Neb., to Hugh and Mabel Caton. She lived on the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Indian reservations, where her father worked for the Department of the Interior, until 1916 when her family moved to Sturgis.On June 6, 1926, she married Carl Linstrom at Sturgis. They lived in Sturgis until he died in 1959. Later she lived in Spearfish, Springfield and Linch, Wyo. In 1978 she moved to Newcastle. She taught school in rural Meade County and at Tilford, Piedmont, Springfield and Linch, and was a librarian at Fort Mead Veterans Administration Hospital from 1963 until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Historical Society and the Sturgis American Legion Auxiliary.Survivors include two sons, William of Marietta, Ga., and Robert of Wooster, Ohio; two daughters, Mary Jane Bader of Arvada, Colo., and Mabel Hinz of Newcastle; three brothers, the Rev. Paul Caton of Newport, Wash., the Rev. John Caton of Anaconda, Mont., and William Caton of Wetmore, Texas; two sisters, Nettie Rambow of Rapid City and Ruth Deering of Wasta; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.
