BALLICO, Merced Co.—Mr. and Mrs. Hilmar Blaine and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Blaine will go to the bay area tomorrow on Saturday to attend services for Mrs. Susan Kern, grandmother of Ruby and Louise Blaine who died Wednesday noon in an Oakland nursing home. Mrs. Kern, who would have been 87 in August, was ill the past three months.
Mrs. Edna Bailey of Ballico, mother of Mrs. Louise Blaine, left for Oakland Tuesday and was at her mother's bedside to the end. Surviving are six sons, Harry of Berkeley, Joe of Albany, Dewey of San Francisco, Ray of Murray, Ky.; Olen of Vallejo and Sheldon of Willits, Mendocino County, and three daughters, Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Catherine Winslow of Oakland and Mrs. Ruth Logue of Sebastopol.
Mr. and Mrs. John Kern lived in Delhi, Merced County, on Palm Avenue for 23 years and later with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bailey on Pepper Street in Ballico and have many friends in this area. Funeral arrangements are indefinite at the present time. It is probable Mrs. Kern will be buried in the Vallejo Cemetery by her husband who proceeded her in death about eight years ago.
