September 2, 1926 ~ February 8, 2020 (age 93)

Mrs. Myrtle Keen Hickox, 93, of Hoboken, passed away Saturday evening, February 8, 2020, at her residence.

Born in Nahunta, GA on September 2, 1926, Mrs. Hickox had lived in Brantley County most of her adult life. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and take care of her family. She taught Sunday school for many years at First Baptist Church, Nahunta; Hoboken Baptist Church, and also at Twin Rivers Church. She worked for Dell Industries for several years. She was a member of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Hoboken. Mrs. Hickox will be remembered as a precious loving mother.

She was a daughter of the late Colonel Brantley & Ocie Dykes Keen. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Malva Alice Brown and Mildred Keen; her brother, Colonel Brantley Keen, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Teresa Darlene Hickox.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Timothy Beal Hickox, Sr. of Hoboken; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth (Steve) Monk of Cleveland, GA; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Edward Hickox of Columbia, SC, Tim (Mary) Hickox, Jr., Dennis “Butch” (Elaine) Hickox, and Bryant (Ann) Hickox, all of Hoboken; 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hickox will be held Tuesday afternoon, February 11, 2020, at 2:00 o’clock at the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Moore Cemetery.

The family requests that the Adult Sunday School Class serve as honorary pallbearers. We ask that you please be at the church by 1:30 PM prior to the service.
