Mrs. Newman was born in Claremont Township on August 3, 1912, daughter of Roy and Ethel Gerber Boatman.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Olney.
Her husband passed away on June 16, 1959, and twins, Marie and Maurice, also preceded her in death.
Her survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Delores) Nix of Rt. 2, Noble; four brothers, Ralph Boatman of Zion, Ray Boatman of Waukegan, Russell and Virgil Boatman, both of Bridgeport; two sisters, Mrs. Virgil (Marie) Scherer of Claremont and Mrs. Henry (Alberta) Whitaker of Robinson. Two grandchildren and her father, Roy Boatman of Bridgeport also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Newman will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Glenn Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Sumner City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schaub Funeral Home after 2 p.m.
