Radio Operator-Gunner aboard B-17G Flying Fortress #44-6349.
Crashed, due to some type of mechanical failure, near Heydebreck, Germany (Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Poland), while on a mission out of Sterparone Airfield, Foggia, Italy to strike the North Synthetic Oil Refinery at Blechhammer, Germany (Auschwitz, annexed Poland).

Nine crewmembers were killed. One bailed out and became a POW.
