David Ronald Kappes, 68, Ada, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, in his home under hospice care.

Mr. Kappes was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Ada, where he grew up. He attended school in Twin Valley, Minn. He worked for potato growers near Ada. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. On Oct. 11, 1958, he married Marcella Luchau in Twin Valley, where they lived. He worked for Twin Valley Telephone Co. for nine years. They returned to Ada in the 1970s. He owned and operated Mid Way Motors in Ada.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Tod (Dawn), Ada; a daughter, Joy (Jim) Mulvihill, Twin Valley; two brothers, Robert (Martha), Louisiana, Ronald, Two Harbors, Minn.; four sisters, Marge Boe, Blaine, Minn., Evelyn Books, Fargo, Verna (Karl) DeLong, Halstad, Minn., Bernice (Bob) Macala, Austin, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 7, with a prayer service at 7, in Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley, and Thursday from 10 to 11, in St. William Catholic Church, Twin Valley.

Funeral: Thursday at 11 in the church.

Burial: St. William Catholic Cemetery, Twin Valley.
